MEERUT: The Moradabad unit of Uttar Pradesh ATS busted a fake currency racket in Sambhal and seized counterfeit notes having a face value of Rs 20,000 on Thursday evening. One accused, Sharafat Hussain, was arrested during a joint operation with the Sambhal police in Saraitareen area.Acting on inputs, the ATS team cordoned off a road in Kaccha locality of Mohalla Pannigram and nabbed Hussain, a resident of the same area. Officials said the seized fake currency included 35 notes of Rs 500, six notes of Rs 200, and 13 notes of Rs 100 denominations.Additional SP (North) Kuldeep Singh said, “Police and ATS teams are now working to trace other members of the network linked to the accused.”
